Its purpose is to provide a platform for researchers, medical physicists and clinicians from Malaysia and surrounding nations to discuss recent research and development advances in medical imaging and radiotherapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"viewer-1vjvg\">\u200b\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"viewer-b4bj9\">NSMP 2014, the 9th national medical physics conference was held in Putrajaya, Malaysia, on 5 April 2014. Organised in parallel with the College of Radiology (COR) Malaysia Scientific Meeting, the theme for the 9th NSMP was &#8220;Advances in Multidisciplinary Research and Clinical Practice&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"360\" height=\"132\" src=\"https:\/\/mamp.org.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-420\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mamp.org.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-1.png 360w, https:\/\/mamp.org.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/3-1-200x73.png 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"viewer-8kgtm\">Sixty-four participants from universities and hospitals attended the conference, which saw 17 oral contributions and 12 posters presented. The meeting also included three invited lectures:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"viewer-720oh\">\u2022 Hybrid imaging: research and clinical practice David Townsend, A*STAR-National University Singapore Clinical Imaging Research Centre \u2022 Outline of treatment planning for carbon-ion radiotherapyNobuyuki Kanematsu, National Institute of Radiological Sciences, Japan \u2022 Implementing medical physics clinical training programme in Malaysia: challenges and experiences Noriah Jamal, Malaysian Nuclear Agency<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"viewer-52o54\">The proceedings of this conference have now been published in the Journal of Physics: Conference Series (J. Phys.: Conf. Ser.546 011001-012022). The collection includes 22 manuscripts, all of which were peer reviewed by expert referees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"viewer-722j4\">The papers encompass five topics: medical imaging, including radiography, MRI and functional MRI; nuclear medicine, including PET and gamma imaging; radiation therapy; radiation protection and dosimetry; and biomedical engineering.
